Host Media becomes a RIPE NCC member

News

We are pleased to announce that Host Media is now a member of RIPE NCC (Réseaux IP Européens Network Coordination Centre), the Regional Internet Registry responsible for allocating and registering Internet number resources across Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia.

Joining RIPE NCC is an important milestone for Host Media, reinforcing our commitment to operating a resilient, transparent and future‑proof hosting platform for our customers.

Host Media now a RIPE NCC Member

What is RIPE NCC?

RIPE NCC is one of five Regional Internet Registries worldwide. It manages the allocation of IP addresses (both IPv4 and IPv6) and Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs), while supporting the technical coordination and stability of the global internet.

Membership is open to organisations that operate networks and provide internet connectivity or hosting services, and it comes with clear responsibilities around good stewardship of internet resources.

What this means for our customers

Becoming a RIPE NCC member delivers tangible benefits for our customers, both now and in the long term:

Directly allocated IP addresses

As a RIPE NCC member, Host Media can now allocate IP address space directly from RIPE NCC rather than relying on third parties. This provides:

  • Greater reliability and continuity – IP addresses remain under our direct management

  • Improved reputation and trust – independently registered address space is recognised globally

  • Simpler migrations – customers can move services within our platform without unnecessary IP changes

Stronger IPv6 support

IPv6 adoption is essential for the long‑term growth of the internet. RIPE NCC membership enables us to expand our native IPv6 offering, helping customers future‑proof their services while maintaining compatibility with modern networks and applications.

Better network transparency

All RIPE‑allocated resources are publicly registered, improving traceability and accountability. This supports:

  • Faster resolution of network issues

  • Clear ownership of address space

  • Stronger standing with upstream providers and peers

Benefits for Host Media as a business

Joining RIPE NCC also strengthens Host Media operationally and strategically:

Long‑term independence

Managing our own internet number resources reduces reliance on third parties and gives us greater control over how our network evolves. This independence allows us to make infrastructure decisions based on what is best for our customers, not external constraints.

Improved network resilience

With direct access to IP address management and routing resources, we can design a more robust and scalable network, supporting continued growth without compromising stability or performance.

Active participation in the internet community

RIPE NCC is a community‑driven organisation. Membership allows us to take part in policy discussions, working groups and technical forums that help shape how the internet operates. This keeps us closely aligned with best practice and emerging standards.

Aligned with our values

At Host Media, we believe in running infrastructure responsibly, transparently and with a long‑term view. RIPE NCC membership aligns closely with our wider commitments to sustainability, resilience and ethical operation – principles that guide how we build and run our services.

Looking ahead

This step marks another investment in the quality and reliability of our hosting platform. While customers may not notice immediate visible changes, RIPE NCC membership underpins many of the behind‑the‑scenes improvements that ensure your services remain stable, scalable and future‑ready.

If you have any questions about what this means for your services, or would like to discuss IPv6 or networking options, please feel free to get in touch with our team.
